Mistake

I've been having blue screens for a long time now. Ever since I did a lot of hardware upgrades, they have been constant. Also, ontop of the blue screens, my internet will randomly go out. A message pops up while troubleshooting that goes something like "Problems with (something) gateway closed". I don't know if that will help but that's also a big problem i'm having if you can redirect me to the right place.

So, here's my attachments that you will need. Hopefully we can resolve this together.

HD Test - New Hard Drive. I bought after all the problems started.

Memory Test - All Fine

Driver Verifier - I couldn't load up right and had to system restore. verifier /query didn't work for me afterwards. Maybe this has something to do with it.

Hi -

App crashes began on 4 February 2011, the day Windows 7 was installed and primiarily list exception code 0xc0000005 = memory access violation. There were 50 BSODs in the last 60 days; probably more before that (Windows 7 only retains the last 50 dump files).

You mentioned an XP --> Windows 7 x64 upgrade and doring "a lot of hardware upgrades". What hardware did you replace?

Hardware changes may have caused licensing problems.

XP appears to have been last installed on 10 Feb 2010 based on the page file allocation date (this could also indicate a manual change to the page file) -
Code:

AllocatedBaseSize=4095
Caption=C:\pagefile.sys
CurrentUsage=317
Description=C:\pagefile.sys
InstallDate=20100210143440.406250-300
Name=C:\pagefile.sys
PeakUsage=470
Status=
TempPageFile=FALSE

The Event Viewer recorded these events within 36 hours of Windows 7 installation -
Code:

Event[11001]:
  Log Name: Application
  Source: Windows Activation Technologies
  Date: 2011-02-06T10:17:35.000

Description: Acquisition of genuine ticket failed (hr=0x80072EE7) for template Id 66c92734-d682-4d71-983e-d6ec3f16059f
Description: License acquisition failure details. hr=0x80072EE7
Description: Genuine validation schedule created/changed. Interval: 129600 minutes
Description: Genuine validation result: hrOffline = 0x00000000, hrOnline = 0x80072EE7

These 2 events were recorded on 7 May 2011:
Code:

  Log Name: Application
  Source: Windows Activation Technologies

Description: SLUI notification schedule modified. Schedule type: 1
Description: Genuine validation schedule created/changed. Interval: 129600 minutes
The 50 BSODs had bugchecks all over the map, indicative of unknown hardware failure.

The licensing issues may be caused by a bad Windows 7 DVD, hardware failure, ... a variety of reasons.

You said that memtest & HDD diags came up clean. Given the hardware changes, you should wipe the HDD, reinstall XP, then perform a clean install of Windows 7.

https://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/w...p-to-windows-7

XP will have to be validated - www.microsoft.com/genuine/validate

If problems occur, contact Microsoft - https://support.microsoft.com/kb/326851

Re-validate after Windows 7 is installed.

Regards. . .

You mentioned an XP --> Windows 7 x64 upgrade and doring "a lot of hardware upgrades". What hardware did you replace?

Hardware changes may have caused licensing problems.

XP appears to have been last installed on 10 Feb 2010 based on the page file allocation date (this could also indicate a manual change to the page file) -
Code:

AllocatedBaseSize=4095
Caption=C:\pagefile.sys
CurrentUsage=317
Description=C:\pagefile.sys
InstallDate=20100210143440.406250-300
Name=C:\pagefile.sys
PeakUsage=470
Status=
TempPageFile=FALSE

Upgrading from Windows XP to Windows 7 - Help & How-to - Microsoft Windows

XP will have to be validated - www.microsoft.com/genuine/validate

If problems occur, contact Microsoft - Activation and registration of a Microsoft product

Re-validate after Windows 7 is installed.

I replaced my Motherboard, CPU, and RAM. Then, so I could do a HDD test you guys recommended, I bought a new Disk Reader because my other was broken and USB testing was getting complicated. Some time after that, I bought a new Hard Drive for some space...

To be clear, there was some problems with installing the motherboard and getting it in correctly. Not sure if anything in the process could have happened.

At the moment I don't think I still have the WinXP CD, but I do have the Win7 Disks. What should I do next in getting XP back then?

I mean this problem has been killing me. I'm seconds from buying a new factory-made computer but I want to nail building rigs at some point. A hobby or passion if you will. I seriously just want to get rid of these problems that have been driving me crazy for nearly half a year now.

Do you think that wiping everything and then installing a Full Version of Win7 will work too? I don't see why not and it will be more convenient for me, but i'm no expert.

Sorry -- yes... if you have full retail Windows 7 DVD, no reason for XP. I thought it was an upgrade.

It was an upgrade but I know where I can get a full retail for very cheap. It would save me the trouble of having anymore problems when I upgrade again and it's not going to cost me much.

I'll come back to the thread when I test everything out, thanks!

Windows 7 full retail version would be ideal in this case.

Ok, I killed my HDD and reinstalled Windows 7, but i've already got a blue screen. It said something about System Service Exception. The only things I have installed are the contents on my WNA3100 Netgear Adapter and ASUS Motherboard CD's.

A little help, i'm a bit confused.

I also just got a Cache_Manager Blue Screen while playing a game. So a day after the complete reinstall, i've already gotten two blue screens.

I'm thinking of completely remaking my computer unless we can figure this out. I really appreciate the help so far, thank you.

My guess it that the system service exception was 0xc0000005 = memory access violation caused by the WNA3100 &/or Asus Mobo drivers from the CDs.

The CDs probably contain old driver versions which are conflicting with other drivers over memory addressing.

Go to the device manufacturer's site and download the most recent versions.

Netgear - https://support.netgear.com/app/answe...rsion-1.1.3.22

Asus - https://support.asus.com/download/opt...uage=en&type=1

I've downloaded the latest for Netgear but am confused on what to download for my Asus Motherboard. There are a bunch of tabs and items, which category or should I go through all of them.

ASUS Download Page

Also, how do I update everything from ASUS? I searched around a bit on google but found very little.

The drivers that came on the CD are:
VIA Audio Driver
AMD Chipset Driver
ASUS EPU-4 Engine
Realtek 10/100/1000 PCI-E LAN Driver

Do I just download these off the site and run AsusSetup?
