Hi,

A friend of mine wants a gaming PC. He was wondering if this is good enough for playing games and he doesn't really want to spend more than 400.

AMD Showdown 6Core Gaming PC - AMD Gaming PC

Can anyone suggest a good build or say if this is any good?

Thanks.

Bundles commonly use lower quality components, especially the PSU like the one you linked to.
The best advice I could offer would be to save up until there is sufficient funds for a gaming PC.
Look over our suggested build list for ideas. The UK pricing has yet to be updated: https://www.techsupportforum.com/foru...-a-668661.html

+1 Same as above.

The component selection in that list is pretty poor.
  • PSU is low-quality and low-wattage, we wouldn't recommend most of those PSU options
  • Six-Core CPUs like the FX-6100 offer virtually zero advantage over quad-cores for gaming
  • Video Card is weak - even an A10-5800k or 6800k would give the same GPU power for much cheaper

As mentioned above, ordering individual components and building yourself is a much better idea. A couple more cost-effective CPU/GPU/PSU combinations:

-FX-4100 or Phenom II x4 + GTX 650 or HD 7750 + 550-watt XFX PSU
-A10-5800k or A10-6800k + 450-watt XFX PSU
-A10-5800k or A10-6800k + 550-watt XFX PSU (for a new video card eventually)
