I think I have a problem with my monitor. I'm not certain what mode I'm in sign in page for Windows is black (normal picture not there). I guess I can view like videos and images on my computer. Background is black pretty much everywhere. Was able to get normal desktop image back.

Have you tried the adjustments on the monitor itself?

I've gone into Management and done factory reset, it doesn't seem to do much of anything.

I everything OK except sign in page? If so, go to Personalize and change from Solid Color to what you want.

The sign in page looks like it's come back fortunately. It's EVERYWHERE when browsing the web. The background of this forum is black, Google is black, Youtube is black.

I usually use Firefox I just checked the Edge browser: the same.

I don't know if I should start a new thread on this. Someone was messing with my monitor... I thought the black issue wouldn't be that difficult to resolve. I've also got two vertical lines on my monitor. Just Googling I came across maybe update graphics card, which I did and doesn't seem to have removed them.

I was to able to change the system theme that seems to have gotten rid of the black background for everything. If you could help with the two vertical lines that would be much appreciated.

Select "Degauss" on the monitor (itself) settings.

How do I find that? The options I have are brightness, contrast, color control, input control, image control, power control, menu control, management, language, and information.

Also in QV options are low blue light, hp enhance, gaming, photo, movie, text and custom.

Look in its manual or post brand and model here.

If you're using VGA, page 16 in your manual. Since it's not a CRT, you can't degauss.

Ok so I'm unable to degauss this monitor? Do you have anymore more advice? I'll probably try HP support.

Clock Settings in the manual on p.16 I mentioned in Post #12. If you don't have the manual, it, free on line. https://support.hp.com/us-en/product...193416/manuals

I did find the Clock and Phase settings, they are under image control. They don't seem to do be doing anything (when I adjust them) to the two vertical lines on my screen unfortunately.

Try a different screen resolution, particularly if it's not the recommended one.

Yes 1920 x 1080 is the recommended one, I tried some others doesn't effect the two vertical lines.

That's very strange that's just a news article on Jerry Stiller's death. There are two lines over the picture on my screen the screenshot seems to take them out.
