Hi everyone,

My laptop does not recognise my earphones / headphones anymore. The laptop is new.

Although the laptop notices when something is inserted in the audio port, it doesn't recognise them. I have attached screenshots of the device manager and the sound output screen to clarify what I mean. Hope it's not a problem that the language is German.

The Realtek Audio Manager doesn't recognise them either. However, it recognises my micro when I insert it into the micro port.

I use Windows 7
The laptop is a XMG A505
Realtek Audio Driver 2.79

Which other information do you require?

I would appreciate very much your help.

Hi and Welcome to TSF!

Do the headphones produce sound when you use them?

Headphones and earphones do not require drivers so they are not going to show up in any of the menus you posted.

Ah, right. Learnt something new.

No, neither headphones nor earphones produce any sound.
The external speakers work fine.

In the Realtek Sound Manager are the audio jacks enabled? Did this problem just start randomly?

Have you reinstalled the latest sound driver?

Yes, the audio jacks are activated.
Yes, the problem just suddenly appeared.

I have already re-installed multiple Realtek drivers without any success.

If you plug in your headphones, then right-click your speakers in the Sound Configure screenshot you took and select Test, does it produce any sounds?

I have tried these steps without success.
I have also tried the 'switch to old driver' option for my sound device in the device manager. Afterwards a 'headphone' option actually appeared in the playback menu, but I was still unable to hear any sounds.

System restore might be an option to a point when it was working.

Now the headphones do not work anymore.
I haven't updated any drivers, etc. I have however once unplugged my headphones. Could this be the cause?

I can see the headphone sign in my playback menu:

Right click on the headphones and select to configure. Set them up as they should and see if any sound is pushed through.

When I right-click there is no 'configure' option.

I have tried out USB headsets which work fine. I called the manufacturer which reckons it's a technical default so I have been asked to send them the laptop.

If they are offering to repair the issue for free, I would take their offer.
