Hi,

On one of my PCs, I have a pair of Altec Lansing speakers and when the mouse is being moved, the speakers emit a high pitched white that is slightly annoying.

The speakers are connected to the rear audio jack on the motherboard.

I tried using a different USB port for the mouse, but it still doesn't fix it. Unplugging the mouse makes the sound go away.

Drivers are all up-to-date.

This also happens when using a different audio source in the rear audio jack. Using the front case jacks do not produce this noise.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Vague memories from something similar some years ago, plus a 'gut-instinct' (to quote L J Gibbs ) suggests the mouse (or the lead/USB-plug to be accurate) - Have you tried a different mouse?

I could try a different mouse, but doesn't matter much as I want it to work with the mouse I have. BTW its a wired mouse.

It's worth trying another mouse briefly, if only to eliminate a possible source of the problem.

I ended up picking an inexpensive Asus sound card. This solved the issue for the computer speaker whine. From other threads online, this appears to be an issue when voltage is transmitted from a GPU or the laser in your mouse.

Ahaah! Cured it from t'other end... - I wish I could remember what fixed it, last time I came across this problem, I'm fairly sure it was one of my old PCs too

Still, at least you found a cure for it, that's the main thing

Looking at new speakers
