This is a discussion on soundcards within the Sound Cards forums, part of the Tech Support Forum category. any suggestions on a new sound card? i have on board audio with Realtek ac97 but it isn't working. i
yep i got the right drivers installed. no sound will play back. i have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers, but still nothing. that is my on board sound, i have a creative audiopci (es1370), sb pci 64/128 (wdm) installed right now, and that sounds horrible.
thanks for the info i looked on tigerdirect last night and found one i think i'm going to buy soon.
I had the same problem, with realtek ac97 sound codec, the newest version caused me to have no sound what so ever. I would try and find some previous version of the drivers and go to www.driveragent.com to check your systems drivers are working and up to date.
Depends what you want a sound card for. If you do a lot of games, Sound Blaster (but don't come to me if you have problems) Music creation, MIDI, 24bit stuff, cheapest option is Audiophile 2496, has only coax dig i/o but you can get an optical converter for $15.00 if you really need ops.
thanks for the suggestions, i forgot i had posted one about that. but what i'm doing right now until i get some extra money for a new card. i just don't turn up the system volume , i just use the speaker volume. the crackling noise doesn't happen that way.
