What's the make/model of your 5.1 speakers? Is there an inline volume/mute button or does it have a separate command station to power on/off and volume up/down?

My System

Two things:

1) test with a different set of speakers or headphones. That will confirm the port is/isn't working.

2) If this is a desktop PC, try using the front panel jack. Or if you are already using the front panel, try using the rear panel.

*Also, if you are only using the green (front left/right audio) port, then you are not configured properly for surround sound. You are only using stereo audio.
