Hello
When I plug in speakers or headphones using a USB adapter like this, sound comes through normally, but when I use the front/rear jacks to do this, realtek HD audio manager notifies that the device has been connected and the bars in the windows mixer fill up, but no sound is coming from the speakers.

Parts:
intel i5-2500k
asus p8p67pro motherboard
Windows 7

Hi Burntf and welcome to TSF

Both front and rear sockets failing usually indicate dead/dying audio-circuitry on the mobo, plus your headphones working through a USB adaptor confirms this.

Sadly, it's not feasible to repair the motherboard, unless it's still under warranty , the only option is to either carry on using the USB adaptor or get a 3rd-party sound-card.

PC Performance Lapse - advice please?
Good evening chaps, I've tried a couple of things myself but my PC performance just won't return to its normal self. When I first bought my PC a couple of years ago, it was able to run games like WoW on consistent 60+ (sometimes way higher) FPS and even capable of running Crysis on fairly decent...
