I have a set of earbuds that I use all the time for work, music, etc. I know they work because I have plugged them into my phone, different laptops, and they all play back sound. However, when I plug them into my laptop, there is no sound playback. I went into Control Panel-->Hardware & Sound-->Sound-->Playback, and the device does not show up. However, whenever I plug in the earbuds, Realtek Audio HD manager detects that headphones have been plugged in and its default screen pops up. Obviously the laptop detects that there are earbuds plugged in as well since sound stops being routed through the speakers and...just disappears. Any help? Sorry

My System

Have you tried manually updating/reinstalling the audio drivers?

The drivers should be available from the PC manufacturers webpage.
