Question

Hi everyone,

This is my first post, so please bear with me.

A couple weeks ago, we had some bad weather here. It caused a "sag" in power, and as a result, blew the power supply in the PC, the satellite receiver for the TV, and the amp in the subwoofer of my Altec system.

Anyway, I got a new power supply, satellite receiver, and I ordered a 5.1 surround sound Logitech X-530 system.

It arrived yesterday afternoon, so I took my time today and hooked it up according to the directions. I found a music file to try and it sounded great for about 1 minutes into the song! All of a sudden, the sound just shut off! The slider on WMP continued to move, but no sound at all! I tried re-booting, but didn't even have window sounds!

Now I am trying to figure out if it's the sound card that went or the speaker system! I don't have a spare speaker to plug in, so I don't know what to do.
I have checked all the connections, etc........and they all seem fine.

I wonder if doing a system restore to before I hooked up the new speakers would help?!

Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!

I have an Abit IS7-E2 MoBo, Win XP Pro, SB Audigy Platinum Sound card, and Logitech X-530 5.1 speakers.

Thanks in advance for all your help.

Thanks for the response. I checked all that and there are no yellow ! next to them. I am convinced it must be the speakers because I plugged a set of headphones into the SB line out, and they work fine. I also tried plugging the new X-530's into the onboard audio (RealTek AC97) and they didn't make a peep.

I guess I'll send the x-530's back and try again!

Thanks again for all the help! Keep up the good work! I appreciate it!
