I don't have any audio or it is extremely low to where I can barely hear. I have tried everything suggested by HP Support Assistant and also on the Control Panel and by my Security program. I have an HP Pavilion g6 Notebook which I purchased new in 2012. I use McAfee security. When I check on the audio driver (IDT High Definition Audio CODEC), it says it is working properly. This problem just recently started...about a week or so. Prior to this, I did notice that video links gotten off of Facebook or in emails were lower than before. I don't use chat rooms, but I use Basic Talk for my telephone service which requires me to plug its modem into my AT&T router for my internet service. I frequently use the Internet to listen to a certain radio station that is not available here where I live. Can someone please suggest what could be the source of my problem and how I can solve it? Be as detailed as possible; I'm kind of technologically slow. Thanks.

Hi and Welcome to TSF!

You're having trouble hearing the volume even on maximum sound levels?

How well does local music stored on the hard drive play?

First, reinstall the sound driver provided by HP's support website.

Next, right-click the speaker icon in the bottom right > Playback Devices > Communications > Select Do Nothing.

Try reinstalling the drivers as noted above.

It's entirely possible the audio chipset or audio port is faulty.
