ecoh on studio recording software

Question

While trying to record my guitar thru a audio interfaces useing 3 different studio sofrware on 3 different computers running win 7 home .The computer speakers i used as moniter was way behide my guitar playing . makeing to hard to keep correct timeing. during on of the software install a window pop
up saying it detected a config problem on the sound out and i needed go to divice manger then sound device and change the buffer settings and i think the hertz setting. i could not find where to make the change ans when i went back to the pop up it was gone.
My question is anyone know how i can fix this problem.
