I got this headset a few weeks ago and have been using it regularly since, I didn't have any problem with it; the mic worked fine and people could hear me online clearly. However, all of a sudden the mic stopped working for other people, meaning I could hear myself through the mic, but other people online can't hear me, I can't command Cortana with it either. It happened so suddenly and I can't think what the problem is, my controller is up to date and I've tried restarting my Xbox multiple times to no avail. I'm also sure I haven't muted myself.

Any help is greatly appreciated

Hi and Welcome to TSF!

Is this being used on the Xbox One?

Do you have another Xbox controller to test it with?

Yeah, I'm using it on Xbox One. And no, I don't have another controller. However I have used it with a mobile phone and the person I was calling could hear me

Is the controller running the latest firmware? You can check this by updating the controller through the Xbox settings menu.

Is there a way you can borrow another controller? Otherwise, since the unit is new, I'd contact Turtle Beach.

Thanks for the help; I'll look into trying it with a new controller. I'm now pretty convinced that it's a problem with the controlller, mine is quite old so it may be degenerating somewhat

If you do pick up a new controller, make sure to pick up the new style known as the Xbox One S Controller.
