Hi all,

Yesterday I started experiencing some serious issues in ALL steam games played in multiplayer.

The games start freezing briefly for few seconds, which gets me kicked out (CoH2) or simply killed (Team Fortress 2)

I've no idea what causes this horrible non-stop lag. It just started by itself.

The computer in overall works as always.

Steps already done.
1. RaptR is deleted.
2. Steam and all games were deleted/ reinstalled. No change.

I think my comp specs are in my signature. I can post them if needed.

Thank you!

Does it only happen in multiplayer games? Run www.speedtest.net and post the results back here.

yes, it is only multiplayer games.

Wolfenstein: New Order runs just great.

I suspect a poor internet connection.

Let me try a couple of things..

Thanbk you!

Well, your Internet should be plenty fast. Have you tried verifying the game cache files?

and this the ping test.

I got grade B, which means internet connection is ok, while some online games will not perform great.

Why?

Also, I have noticed that during lag spikes my ping goes up to 800!!!

I guess there is either a problem with Internet connection (my wife complained earlier about Internet disappearing once for a short period of time) or there is a software program that would periodically "kick in" and cause horrible lag for few seconds.

What is your network setup, IE DSL/Cable modem directly wired to the PC, wireless to the PC, Modem to a router then to the PC?

Shut all units down wait a minute then power up the Modem, then the router, lastly the PC.

I just played three hours of TF2 and CoH2 absolutely lag free! Restarting modem did the trick! Good advice! Thank you!

Thanks for letting us know :)

If it continues to happen it may be a sign of a modem starting to fail.
