In PC games you can change game speed via admins console to anywhere from 1-200% (100% is normal speed). This is how I discovered a symptom of my connection that's been messed up a few weeks.

I was on a server I have been getting high ping at with some friends and the game speed was decreased to 20% for fun (slow motion)and my ping was perfect, 40-80ms! Now as he increasingly upped the game speed it correlated with my ping, it increased as well (maxed out at 208ms). I understand that if the game speed is really slow its less data to send/receive but I'm on a cable line and shouldn't have bandwidth issues like this.

I cant figure out what's causing this, maybe throttling or a bad router? I have done speedtest and its fine. Any help or theories would be great.

That's pretty high ping for that connection. I'd contact the ISP to ensure that your connection line is in working order.

They are coming out next week to check the router/cables but was hoping I could figure out the issue before that.

I'd have them make sure before I go deeper as they can rule out a lot of possibilities.

Make sure to get a check list of what they did.
