Hi. This problem affects my Windows Vista Home Premium SP2 computer.
Occasionally, when I log on the computer after locking it for a long time, the keyboard acts as if the Windows Key is depressed. (Pressing E opens explorer, R opens the Run dialog, U opens Accessibility Options, etc.)

This is fixed easily by entering the security dialog (Ctrl+Alt+Del). However, once I do this, the Windows Key appears to stop functioning.
Tapping it will not open the start menu (for the record, nor will Ctrl+Esc), and none of its combinations work except Winkey+L to lock.

Can someone explain to me why this happens and how to fix it?

Hello,

Try another Keyboard and see if the problem is still there.

My System

I suggest a repair install. Perhaps it is an OS issue.
