To whomever can help:

I was given a computer for my daughter. It was JUST installed with Windows 7 home Premium sp1 when we got it. When I have tried to check for updates, it gets stuck- even if I leave it for hours & hours, it still continues to "check for updates" (& I have very fast internet). I have ran microsofts windows update troubleshooter, but it still does the same thing. Please help.

Thank you for your time & assistance.

I have had this problem lately myself. I found if you download a few manual updates, (eg) IE11, .Net Framework 4.5, etc, after restarting it should kick in.
