ok,I've neglected u guys long enough. I've tried for too long to
resolve this and u've always had the answer. I'm running win7 32
bit trying to go to win7 pro 64 bit I bought w/ product key. I have
that on flash drive and burned the image to DVD.
Ok so far now I'm lost

My research says that I should clean install w/BIOS, not EFI.
(simpler?)

Will someone, in plain English, walk me thru this. Thanks

I am going to ask the following and if the answer is that you do not wish to go to Windows 10 then my possible contributions will stop: Why would you do this rather than upgrading to Windows 10 Pro when end of support for Windows 7 is just days away.

You can use a Windows 7 Pro Key to do an upgrade to Windows 10 Pro.

Since you're changing bit-depth there is no way to upgrade to Windows 7 Pro or to Windows 10 and keep your existing files and applications as part of that upgrade.

Doing a full system image backup, a separate user data backup, running Belarc Advisor to get a good inventory regarding the programs you have installed and their respective product keys - then doing a completely clean install of Windows 10 Pro using your Win7 Pro license key to activate it, which still works - is what makes sense.
