Windows 7 USB Flash Drive Backup

I would like to get a disk image from my clean computer onto a Flash Drive for backup purpose in case it might be needed for a reinstall of the OS in the future. What is the easiest way to get it done, for the very limited computer informed user... Thanks. HJ

Using disc imaging software to make an image for backup purposes is a great idea. However, those images far exceed the the storage capacity of most flash drives. The image can be between 40GB to 120GB depending on what you want on the image. This is to say that there are not flash drives out there that size...there are. You might want to consider a portable hard drive, a 500GB is far less expensive.

Amazon.com: large capacity flash drives

Amazon.com: portable hdd 500gb

A 256GB Flash drive is going to run a couple hundred dollars. (Examples).

The software to do the backup is included in Windows 7. Click the Start orb, type in "backup" (without the quotes) and select "Backup and Restore" from the list.

Thanks for the info Doc. What I seek is a Flash Drive backup solely for the OS for a reinstall if and when needed. I was informed that it would require 16 GB for a clean computer to reinstall the OS. Thanks again Doc.

Create an .iso of your Windows 7 DVD and burn it to your flash drive.
