Since I got this computer on Christmas I have been experiencing lag spike while using anything that uses internet. Skype, video games, servers, web browsers. I play games on a more competative level and its becoming more and more annoying.

The issue is that I would lag for about 1-3 seconds every 5-10 min. I like to think i'm pretty good with computers and networks but I am out of ideas.

Here is my DXDIAG information if anyone can please suggest some solutions, i think its my motherboard.

Use the Resource Monitor to determine what is causing spike -
START | type perfmon /res

Thank you for getting back to me on this matter. I can't believe I didn't think of running this my self; there is one problem though, how do i read this to find out what causes the "spike"?

Its hard to see it happen when i just brows the web, but when i load up skype and some video games, its even easier to see. I can see spikes just with chrome open, so like i said, i dont know what to look for in this.

I am having network issues, as some of you may have seen my other post, i was wondering is having all these SVCHOSTS.exe could be slowing my down or causing me to have the spikes i'm receiving?

running -- perfmon /res -- it shows these svchosts.exe taking up quite a bit. If so, how can i remove them? or stop them?

Svchost will run for each DLL process that is also a service being executed on the PC. It is normal to have quite a few instances of svchost executing at any given time.

One way to lower the number of svchost processes is to disable services you don't want running.

is this normal then? Someone suggested i run this because of the lag spikes i get while on skype, or ANY video game.

Expand the "Network Activity" and look at send, receive, total b/sec.

Click on column heading to sort.

svchost runs system services -
START | type services.msc

In Task Manager, RIGHT-click on a svchost, select "services" to see what services are running under it.

Ok, so i just tried a few games, skype and all that...looking at the Resource Monitor, nothing spikes when i receive lag spikes in these softwares. So does this confirm that it is prob hardware issues?

See if SysInternals Process Explorer picks up spikes -
Process Explorer

Does the system freeze?
Is it video buffering?

Do you have DSL, cable, FIOS?

Run SpeedTest - Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test
