Thanks in advance. I have a windows vista 32 bit home basic computer. My question is: I found a disc that I don't know if it came with my computer from three years ago. I am wondering if it is a recovery disc for my computer. This is the title of the disc:
INNOVA OBD2 Teklink Software & Reference Files
Version 2.01 Copyright 2006 IEC. MRP#93-0186 Rev.A

Is this a recovery disc or does it have something to do with digital camera's? I just don't know what it is. The reason I am needing to know is that I think I am going to need a recovery disc for the computer since I have D drive completely full. Thanks again.

That is not a recovery disk. A recovery disk will say HP, Dell etc recovery DVD.

Also why would you need a recovery disk when Windows in normally installed on disk C:?

Recovery disk only reinstall Windows.

What you have is a code reader software to read codes for cars.

Thanks so much for the info. I am computer illiterate anyway so I had no clue what the disc was. Thanks again. As to why I thought I needed a recovery disc is because my drive D is completely full and I keep getting the low disc popup. I have already posted my problem and sent screenshots to another part of this forum but haven't heard from my last reply. If you have any ideas I would like to hear them. But, I am waiting for a response from that post I made. I am sorry to have bothered you but I am just desperate to get the matter resolved. In fact if you did try to help me it would have to be very simple instructions since as I said I am computer illiterate sad to say. Haven't been using the computer all that long to know the how's and why's of a matter pertaining to the computer. I was asked before on one of the posts had I saved things to drive d instead of C and I honestly don't know. If I did I did it unknowingly. All I know is that I need help before my computer dies out!!!!

Thanks so much. Need all the help I can get. Oh by the way, I checked to see if my video's (I had only two or three) and also my pictures to see which drive they are in and they are in C. So, I know they are not in D to my knowledge. I was asked that question in the other posts. I have just now checked everything and all is in C except for the recycle bin and it is in drive D. (D is highlighted as if it is in D drive.) Is that where it is supposed to be and if not what do I do to change it? Thanks again.

Thanks again. Just one more question. If I do this what will happen to my antivirus, my pictures, e-mail, or any other programs that I have on the computer. Will everything be gone and does it mean I will have to download everything again? I know I am a bother to you but I am just nervous about doing these things. I know you are a pro at this and I can trust you to help me. I just need to have an idea of what I will need to do to replace some of the programs if I do this restore partion. Soooooooooo nervous. Forgive me for not being computer wise!!

Windows is not installed on your D: drive and if your D: is getting full there shouldn't be a problem.

But to make sure lets see where Windows is installed on. Open "Computer" (Start computer) Take a snapshot

How to take a snapshot

Go to start Programs>Accessories>Paint Click on Edit then Paste then go to File click on Save As save to Desktop. To post the snapshot here click on "Go Advanced" click on Attachments click on Browse locate the image in Desktop click on open then click on upload.

Yes, if you restore your computer it takes it back to Factory Defaults. So, you will loose all Email, Pictures, Music and any installed programs that you installed since then. So, backup first, Once you make space on the D: drive, you can create a backup folder and drag any of these files there.
Can you go to Start/Search and type diskmgmt.msc Right click the diskmgmt icon and Run As Administrator. In the Disk Management window, take a screen shot of that and attach it in your next post?

You will loose all important files photos, music, etc.... if they are in the C: drive as Spun.punk mentioned.

Not so sure I can do this. It says on the Ubuntu Live CD that it would cost for the disc. Sorry I have no way to get that.
Also, I don't know if it means anything or not but I was playing around with something and it says my recycle bin was corrupt. Does that have anything to do with drive D being full since that is where it is stored? Is it safe to do a PC registry scan if so which one is a good free one to use. Does my antivirus take care of any registry problems? I also am using superanti spyware, and malware bytes.

Quote:
How to Access a Toshiba Restore Partition | eHow.com

According to your Disk Management shot, you have a Recovery Partition, the hidden 10Gb partition without a drive letter. If you want to restore your computer to factory defaults on the C: drive, you can access this Recovery area when you first boot your computer. You should see a message to Press (Key) to Enter Recovery. Or try the suggestion in the quote.
Ubuntu is Free Software, you do not pay a penny. Follow the suggestions in the link to build your own Ubuntu CD and do not install it, Try it Without Any Change to Your Computer (you'll be running it from the CD), then if you also have a USB Flash or Hard drive attached to your computer, you can backup files from your computer, if you can't boot into Windows. If you can boot into Windows, just attach an external drive and move files (not Programs) from the D: to the external to back them up .
As for what programs you can uninstall, is up to you. What programs do you not use any longer or need? Incidentally, all the programs in Add Remove Programs are installed on your C: Drive usually, so uninstalling programs is not going to free up space on the D: drive. As discussed in your previous thread, you have a Recycle Bin on both the C: And the D: drive, they are connected together. When you delete something from the D: drive, it goes to the recycle bin on the C: drive. Download and run CCleaner Analyze your drives, and Run Cleaner. This will safely remove any temp files, and empty your Recycle Bin (on both drives)

I haven't attempted the recovery yet. I think I will wait until I have someone to guide me while at the computer. Just so afraid. But I do want you to know you have been a tremendous help and I would like to keep this thread open so I can get back in touch if need to.
Also I don't know how I did it but I managed to do a command prompt and was able to get now 2.20GB's of space on the D drive. But, I still can't get the recycle bin to do anything. It is highlighted in grey and won't let me do anything at all. Any suggestions other than the recovery disc from ubuntu? If the advice about that is still the answer I will try to get someone to help me who knows something about the computer who will be by my side to guide me. Your advice is definitely from a pro and I do appreciate it so much. I guess I am just not so smart when it comes to the computer. But, thank you so much and if you have any other advice it would be greatly appreciated. Need all the help I can get. Thanks.

To fix recycle Bin corruption try this

Please proceed with the following support steps....
1. Open an elevated Command Prompt window. To open an elevated Command Prompt, click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-clickCommand Prompt, and then click Run as administrator.
2. Type the following command and press ENTER:
rd /s /q C:\$Recycle.bin
(This clears out the $Recycle.bin folder for the C:\ drive. You may have to do this for each hard disk partition in your system.)
3. Type exit to close the Command Prompt window.

The Recycle Bin in the D: drive is hidden (greyed out) it is, as stated here a few times now, connected to the Recycle Bin on the C: drive, if you empty the Recycle Bin on the C: drive, it empties the Recycle Bin on the D: drive.
If this is not what your talking about, then follow Jacks suggestions.

Hi my smart helpers. It WORKED!!!! My recycle bin works now. Thank you so very much!!!! Great job and so glad to have you both helping. Just this last thing hopefully. When I sent a picture shot of my programs and asked what I could delete--well to tell the truth I don't even know what some of these programs are for that is on there. Would you take another look and see what it is that I don't need. I know it won't help the drive D but I have been wanting to clean up the programs also but don't know what to delete. If it is not a bother to you I would appreciate the help greatly!!! Again thanks so much. In case you can't see all of the programs on the screen I sent here are some of the things I don't know: Cyberlink DVD suite, Cyberlink label print, Cyberlink to go,
Cyberlink power DVD, Microsoft Net Framework 3.5 sp1,
Microsoft Framework 4, Microsoft Client profile, My.Freeze.com Net assistant, Sierra Utilities, and also there are 6 or 7 about microsoft Visual C++2005 ATL update kb973923-x868.050. Some say C++2008 and a bunch of numbers afterward too.No clue what these are. But if one more time you could look at the screen shot and tell me what is safe to delete I again appreciate it.

Hello again,
I know you haven't answered my last post and I do need it answered too. I am not sure but I think I have found one of my problems also with the full D disc. I have somehow downloaded and sent "Superanti Spyware to drive D. Is it removable since it is only a file? I tried to uninstall the spyware but would not let me from programs. I guess that is because it is in drive D right? Any suggestions? Thanks.

Glad to see you got it working!
Is SuperAntiSpyware an install file? or is it the actual program? In other words, if double clicking it on the D: drive does it try to install the program or does it actually Run the program. If it is just an install file, this file is not very big and you can delete. If it runs the program, it should be listed in Add Remove Programs to Uninstall it or you can use Revo Uninstaller to uninstall it. Though, this is still a good tool to remove spyware.
As for your other programs, You need all the Microsoft programs like .NetFrameworks, and Visual C++ as these are installed from Windows Update. Cyberlink is DVD Movie playing software, it might have come with your DVD drive. You certainly don't need all the other programs that are included in this suite unless you use them, but that is up to you. Sierra Utilities is for a game you downloaded and is not harmful. My.Freeze.com is Adware software and should be removed from your system. Any other software you don't know, just type in it's name in Google to find out what it does.
