Recently had the Win 7 Security 2012 virus on my computer, and downloaded this program FixNCR to allow me to start MBAM. Was wondering if this fix was targeted at just the Security 2012 virus or if it can help with other viruses that won't allow me to access programs and run them? Really needing to know if I should save this for future virus removal process or of this was just for this one virus.

You can usually get Mbam to run by renaming the mbam.exe file to something like picture.exe.

FixNCR.reg I believe is something Bleeping computer developed you'll probably get a better answer from them on what it does and how it works.

Hi, as wrench said renaming MBAM, usually safest is explorer.exe as the nasty needs the file manager to work for it's purposes. The reg file is specific, targets what the nasty added to the registry and applies some executable's correct paths such as "firefox", "Internet explorer" although I note chrome is not included.

Basically it is useful for this one purpose only.
