Hi, I have a problem where every time I reboot my Vista laptop my brother's PC disconnects from the internet. This especially becomes a problem when he is playing games online. Usually we have to wait 2-3 minutes before we can reconnect to the internet. When I am at other peoples houses, I do not have this problem, it only happens when I am at home. I suspect the problem has something to do with my IP address or router, but I do not know what to do.

Please help me fix this problem.

Information that may be important:
I am using a Windows 64-bit Vista laptop
My brother is using Windows XP
My router is a Linksys

I do not know much about computers so please be simple, yet detailed in your answers.

-Thank you

. . .
The problem appears to be with your brothers computer. Either of you should be able to re-boot without affecting the other.

How is your brother's computer connected to the Internet - Ehternet or wifi? Is he Vista?

Can your brother connect to the Internet if your system is not connected to your home Internet?

Regards. . .

I vote it is a setting in your router.
