I have a Compaq Presario V2670US laptop which I "upgraded" from XP to Vista (XP stopped working). Most things are working, but sound isn't. I connected with HP's live chat and got a bunch of links to drivers, but none of them worked (got very unhelpful error messages, along the lines of "installation status: FAILURE").

The sound on the machine works just fine under Ubuntu, which identifies the sound hardware as "ATI Technolgies, Inc., IXP SB400 AC'97 Audio controller".

Any clues?

[PS: I tried searching the forum before posting, but got another error message: "Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 75497472 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 524288 bytes) in /home/tsf/public_html/search.php on line 1033"]

Here's a link to the driver you need :) https://rapidshare.com/files/21232083...driver_x64.rar If you can't open rar files get winRar. It's free even though it says it's not. If you absolutely can't then I can get you a zip version. Glad to help you, contact me if you need any more support :).
