you can right click my computer and go to properties, scroll to the bottom and click change product key, insert the key you have from sticker either on your system or in your sleeve/case and try to register again.

also run a virus scan, spyware scan and malware scan using recommended software like avg antivirus, spybot s&d and malwarebytes.

also use ccleaner or glary utilities to clean temp files, you can use the reg cleaner in ccleaner also if you select all options apart from unused file extensions and run it making sure to take a backup.

I always use CCcleaner, and malware bytes along with norton antivirus 2010, already did scans and cleaning.

I got my windows 7 key from the windows free upgrade last year, it came in the mail and I just checked my info, it says Windows is Activated. This pop up only occured once, and has ceased since then.

try using ccleaner to remove unneeded startup entries to let the system load less and thus hopefully speed it up.

also have a look at home many processes you have running once the system has fully loaded. let us know how many there are.

it could be a background application is having problems and the restarts are temp fixing it.

57 processes with several google chrome tabs open.

How do I remove start up entries in CCleaner? I didn't see anything referring to that.

it's in tools and then startup.

try googling things you don't know about and research them before disabling them and make sure you don't disable anything if you don't know what it does.

@Ajax - I'll look into it, thanks. I don't understand how my pc could be running slow with a quad core and 6 sticks of RAM.

@Simp - No, I got it done before the expiration date. It's a legit full version copy, installed before the dead line which was February 2010.

If Windows 7 is activated, then see if it will pass validation -

www.microsoft.com/genuine

Given "non-genuine" status, it is likely that your system is running in reduced functionality mode. This MS KB describes some of the symptoms under Vista -
https://support.microsoft.com/kb/925582

You need to contact Microsoft Corporation about non-genuine Windows - https://support.microsoft.com/kb/326851

There is no point in troubleshooting apparent system problems until the OS is and knows it is genuine Windows.

How much free space do you have left on your Hard Drive. A full or very close to full Hard Drive will exhibit such behaviours.

@AMD - Right now I have 75GB left out of 266GB.

@Jc - It did not pop up today, HOWEVER, when it occured yesterday I noticed my google chrome icon changed its name to "Google Chrome Copy" and has stayed that way today so who knows what else happened.

Given that your warranty expires tomorrow, I suggest that you back up your user profile folder files - Pics, Docs, Music, etc. . . and reinstall Windows 7.

A fresh OS install may help determine if your system troubles are more related to software or hardware.

This is beginning to have the earmarks of infection.

Well on another fourm, they had me run Hijack this, MGADiag and they didn't say anything about me being infected. I tried combofix but it dosent work for my OS. and I have done scans with malware bytes that didnt find anything, and clean my computer with CCleaner and norton antivirus.

I will do a backup I soppose, how would I re-install Win7 though?

They may not have said "infection" or "non-genuine" but they did have you run HJT & MGADiag. . .

I am not saying infection is present, but thought it possible when I read -

Use your Windows 7 DVD or the HDD recovery partition to reinstall the OS. It takes about 30-45 min system time.

When you reach Desktop, allow all Windows Updates in -

The problem has been occurring before that change happened. I will go ahead and do a backup and re-install though. Do you think the problem could be a issue with my PSU? It's a 1000W so its more than enough for this computer, i would hope it not going bad.

Edit: I can't do a backup, I don't have another hard drive, nor any other external hard drives to do the job.

Hi -

You can see if SFC helps - https://jcgriff2.com/sfc.html

I would suggest that you purchase an external USB HDD and back up files; reinstall OS.

you can burn your files and even win7 backups onto discs if need be but yeah i suggest getting an external hdd as dvds will only hold an average of 4.4 gb give or take.

you got a bluray burner?

i don't know the brand so i dunno about quality but i noticed there is a 1tb external going for under 60 pounds at https://cpc.farnell.com/buffalo-techn...alo/dp/SB04239

peace
