Hi

I have a laptop with authentec fingerprint scanner and i would like to disable it cause im the only one able to access the computer. I can find the scanner in my hardware list but i cannot delete it. It will only delete the driver and it's just there when i restart. Can anyone plz help me? I also cant find any of the software that it uses.

Thanks

Does it show up in the bios?
If not I think you may have to look to the laptop maker for the answer.
The fact that it is there for security would make me think that it will be difficult to disable.
I could be wrong and it wouldnt make it the first time or make me feel bad but if I really needed it for security I would hope that it wouldnt be easy.

Hi -

Go into Device Manager, locate the Fingerprint Scanner and DISABLE it - do not "un-install it" because Vista will re-install it upon reboot.
START | devmgmt.msc

Well as of one hour ago, New Jersey was listed 1st; now it is the Southern California Desert where I have been since April and can't seem to get out. Send WATER, please - 113 F and climbing!

I moved to NJ from PA when I was 4; moved back to PA for college, then back to NJ; back to PA; back & forth many times since; now back in NJ since 2007.

Now in CA on a family matter I do hope to return to NJ again - soon! I miss the rain and humidity - no rain here in Palm Springs since I got here 4 months ago. Humidity - 12%. Never lived in OH, though. Where exactly is it? :))

Go left from PA until it you start to here a sucking sound and realize that you have 2 options. You may have to get to Cleveland for that but I hope not>
Go north to MI or keep on going.
BTW if you have to go through Indiana I would recommend flying.
Your travels seem much like mine, it hard to say where Im from.
All I can say about Toledo at this point is it was a good place to be from.... the first time
Not sure why Im here
