Hi guys,

I bought a new PC:
Mainboard :Asus P5KPL-C/1600
Chipset:Intel G31/G33/G35
Processor :Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 @ 2533 MHz
Physical Memory :4096 MB (2 x 2048 DDR2-SDRAM )
Video Card :NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT
Hard Disk :HDS722516VLAT20 (165 GB)
Hard Disk :Maxtor (61 GB)
Hard Disk :WDC (500 GB)
DVD-Rom Drive : ASUS DRW-2014L1T
Monitor Type :LG Electronics T710BH - 16 inches
Network Card :Attansic (Now owned by Atheros) Attansic (Now owned by Atheros) Service Pack 3

Now, as you can see, I got 3 HDD, two of them SATA (60GB & 500GB), and old IDE (160GB).
The 500GB is not planned for system, mostly personal media.

First question is on which HDD to install the system, the IDE or the SATA?

Second question, will running a Vista with 2 or 3 HDD will effect my pc speed in any way (the windows and program files will be only on one HDD).

Third question, temperatures:
Hard Disk HDS722516VLAT20 :43 C
Hard Disk Maxtor 6Y060M0 :52 C
Hard Disk WDC WD5000AAKS-00A7B0 :46 C
The 60GB SATA temparture is usually high and heats up the driver above it.
Should I stick with him or just disconnect it?

Thanks!

I would install Vista on the 60 Gig SATA drive . . and only attach that drive for the installation. . once Vista is up and running you can add the others

It should not affect the speed . . the IDE drive will be slower, but likely not noticably so. I would question adding the IDE drive to the mix . .

Can you put a fan in the front of the case to cool the drives?

Thanks!

Why would you question the IDE?

You said it was old . . IDE drives do not always play nice with SATA boards.

Hi, I think the IDE is a mute question anyway The MB does not support IDE. You can get a converter IDE to usb and use it as an external. I agree with Simpswr put Vista on first.
