My System

hi, I built a pc for my mother a few months ago, and apparent it is now constantly rebooting, occasionally reaching win xp and crashing (BSOD).

I am seeing the pc tomorrow, but wanted to arm myself with a few likely causes first please.

Specs:-
AMD ATHLON II X2 245 sAM3
GBYTE GA-MA78LM-S2 MOBO
Corsair VS 2GB DDR2 800 240PIN C5
Seasonic 600W PSU
WD 500GB HDD
Graphics/sound onboard

Win XP SP3

Thanks

Overheating is one of the things that comes to mind as well as power though you seem to have installed a good power supply. My bets would be on overheating.

Has one of the RAM sticks gone bad? If one has, take out 1 at a time, and try booting with the remaining ones. (Unless you get the Blue screen Error when it crashes, this isn't the cause)

yep i'll post them tonight when I see them myself, getting the symptoms of the crashes further than 'it isn't working' was a quest of epic proportions itself, so I wont be asking her the BSOD details, hehe.

without more details it could be just about anything

the specs look fine they should not be causing anything at this stage most likely a driver

ask her if it starts ok in safe mode if it does it will indicate s/ware or driver

if it does'nt it would indicate h/w
