What model Compaq?

Perform the following steps:
-Remove the power from the system and open the case
-Remove the graphics card from the PC (if equipped)
-Clear the CMOS settings (removing the battery from the motherboard for a few minutes will suffice)
-Attempt to boot the PC using the integrated graphics (if equipped)

If unsuccessful continue:
-Remove all RAM and test with one stick at a time
-Remove any PCI card installed (modem, nic, sound, etc)
-Disconnect drives (storage and optical)
-Inspect motherboard for damaged capacitors
-Test with another PSU

Those things are badly underpowered with poor quality psus and it sounds like yours needs replacing.

Know the complete Model Number of the Compaq might prove helpful.
Are there any signs of life other than the power light flashing(i.e. fans running)?
My thoughts are the same as Rich-M.

Well I think I managed to do what you said but now the light isnt even coming on however I noticed this watch like battery the size of a nickel and I never even knew it existed and it has never been replaced and the Desktop was bought in 2006. Good thing I recently bought this new laptop but I still have so much stuff on my Desktop PC......

That 'watch like" battery is the CMOS battery. It trickles power to the BIOS ROM chip to keep the saved settings. See if you can get a power supply to check because I'm also thinking it's dead.

We are suspecting your power supply has failed. Do you have or can you borrow another known working power supply to try?

[SOLVED] Power Supply issue?
Hi, I've been having some issues with my PC recently. First of all, I would try to start a video game, in this case, StarCraft II, and it would freeze the PC, so I would have to hit the reset button on the computer. Problem is, I noticed it turned off the computer instantly, without restarting...
