I have an Asus striker extreme running 4GB of Corsair dominator memory, two sticks at stock 800, and two at stock 1066. I carelessly bought the two sticks of 1066 not realizing that the motherboard supports memory speeds of only stock 800 max (before overclocking). A friend of mine and I both have asus striker extreme mobo's with Intel core2 3.0 processors. He has 2GB of 667 memory and his PC runs fine. He believes this to be because he has read on the internet that our processor runs better with 677 speed memory. I want to replace the two sticks of 1066 memory that my mobo does not support, but i am debating downgrading my memory to 667 or sticking with 800 stock speeds. I know that my 1066 is downward compatible, but is it worth it on a board that does not support those stock speeds?
and

Is there really a processor memory ratio that, in my case, may mean that my processor will run better with RAM at 667?

Hi, you don't mention the details of your processor other than C2D at 3ghz, so it would be hard to judge.

What I can say though, is that.........
Windows XP will not recognise or utilise 4GB of memory; 2GB is perfect for most users and 3GB for video editing etc.
Your friends RAM is also identical, while your 4 sticks are not.

Have you tried running your rig with just the 2 sticks at 800mhz?

two sticks at 800mhz will run faster than his 667mhz sticks how much faster may not be soooo noticible

but; the 800mhz ram will run at a ratio of 1:1 with the cpu ....... his 667 will not ever get to a 1:1 ratio

you should see your two sticks at 800 will be faster than his
