Computer restarts after ram upgrade

OS: windows xp sp3 & win7



after upgrading my ram my computer restarts after a while like 7 to 30 min
i have two 512 mb ram sticks both are identical-micron. i bought one the other one was the original that came with the computer i have a compaq presario-sr1520nx. when there is one stick (either one) computer works fine. i ran a memtest no errors. this compuer has win xp sp 3

Make sure the RAM with the highest capacity is in the memory module closest to your CPU. Then restart it and tell me how things work out. If that doesnt help enter your BIOS and make sure the frequency is set properly.

Try booting with the new stick only and see if you still experience the problem. Mixing RAM can cause issues.
