Hello!

Do these RAMs have any compatibility issues with the Gigabyte GA-Z170-HD3?

G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 8GB 288-Pin DDR4 2400Mhz (PC4 19200) Intel Z170 -X99 Platform, Model F4-2400C15S-8GVR

And

G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 8GB 288-Pin DDR4 3200Mhz (PC4 25600) Intel Z170 Platform, Model F4-3200C16D-8GVK

The real concern is '2400', as I've learned Z170 works only with the '3200' or higher?

Hi and Welcome to TSF!

You can run 2400MHz memory, it will need to be overclocked to get to that speed though.

This will also work:

HyperX FURY 8GB (2 x 4GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2133 (PC4 17000) Desktop Memory Model HX421C14FBK2/8 - Newegg.com

Thanks! Glad to be here :)

It is very reassuring to know that it will work. The default speed isn't for the Z170 I suppose?

All modern RAM, DDR3/DDR4 default speeds are 1333mhz. Although they are rated and sold as in your case 2400mhz....you will need to set that speed manually in the BIOS. As masterchief has pointed out....your are essentially OC'ing the RAM.

Not sure where you got that information from but it's false. As you look at the mobo specifications...you will see that it clearly states 2400.
Support for DDR4 3466(O.C.) /3400(O.C.) /3333(O.C.) /3300(O.C.) /3200(O.C.) /3000(O.C.) /2800(O.C.) /2666(O.C.) /2400(O.C.) /2133 MHz memory modules

GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 1151 - GA-Z170-HD3 (rev. 1.0)

Got it. I have to enable the XMP profile with new speed.

Looks like I confused Z170 with H170. Apparently it is H170 that supports DDR4 2133 MHz memory modules.

Thanks for clearing up.
