Hi

my problem is : i run cod2 without problem, i'm playing some time such as 10 mins, and fps are dropping when i look at somebody, or some corpse.
(On vioqors' cfg)
On default cfg i don't have 250 fps. I have 200fps, in smoke 100.

My PC:

motherboard: Foxconn Newark
INTEL Core 2 Quad Q8400 2.66 GHz 4 cores
nVidia GeForce 9800 GT 1GB
3GB RAM

Thanks for any solution.

All drivers updated.

I think it causes cpu. And what about the generator? i have just 300W.

Make sure your case is getting proper ventilation. If your system is getting too hot this will cause some slow frame rates. After your card heats up during game play. It takes about 5 to 10 minutes for the card to start overheating.

Your 300W PSU is too weak for your PCIE 9800GT graphics card. This can cause lag, low fps, artifacts, freezes and crashes when the graphics card is put under stress while gaming.

Upgrade to a good quality 550-650W unit with an 80% efficiency rating and at least 40A on the +12V line.

What are the temperatures and voltages in BIOS and while playing a fullscreen game?

Do you have 2 large case fans? (one at the front pulling in cool air and one at the back blowing out warm air, with a clear airlfow path between the 2 fans)

Add another fan and upgrade your 300W PSU.

Those readings look ok.

Check the label on the side of your PSU. What make and model is it? Do you need any advice on upgrading?

The LC Power 600W is a low quality unit compared to other 600W PSUs.

It only has 2 +12V rails (17A and 18A), giving a combined total of less than 30A.

Compare that to a higher quality 600W PSU like the OCZ StealthXStream which has 4 18A +12V rails.

It's the +12V that provides power to the graphics card, so if the power output is too low, you'll get poor performance.

OCZ is a mediocre power supply manuf IMHO

you could do much better with the Corsair 750-TX V2 or XFX black edition 750

The OCZ I used as an example was just the first decent 600W unit I could find voltage details for, not necessarily a recommendation.

It will do the job, and is easily good enough for your 9800GT, but the 2 suggested by linderman are better quality and will last for longer, even if you decide to upgrade to a more power-hungry card sometime in the next 5 years.

I did not intend to appear contradictory with Koala; he is an excellent & experienced computer builder! When it comes time to actually buying a new power unit we as a forum team only want to see the OP (original poster) get the best unit for the money they can afford.

100fps is very good for a 9800GT. You shouldn't be seeing any lag with such a high framerate.

What make and model is your new PSU? If it's a good quality one, it will prevent any future power-related problems with your graphics card (assuming the card hasn't already been damaged through prolonged use of the low quality 300W).
