Confused

I just recently created a barcode font, and, using some freeware vba code found elsewhere, I can now print UPCE barcodes onto documents and forms.
However, I have found that there are some errors in the creation code based upon the documented rules. I have also tried a couple of other pre-coded systems and they have the same error.

The codes being used are essentially just 5 digit values, zero padding up front as needed to a full 6 characters.

All of the code I have found so far up-converts these UPCE values into equivilent UPCA codes, then calculates the check digit value. It uses this CD to determine the parity settings for the original 6 digit code, then outputs the correct format to allow printing through the selected font.

My problem is that a number of UPCE codes end up generating duplicate barcode values to that the scanning with only return a single value for the duplicates.

For example, if you supply 060770 and 060773 into any of this software, the resulting output for both will generate the barcode for 060770 only.

1) if anyone has this type of capability, could you test and confirm my problem.

2) if you have a solution, could you please share it or point me in the right direction.

Thanks,
Martyn
