Hello,

A couple days ago, I came across this picture of someone's desktop, (I hope it attaches successfully) and I noticed how different his/her taskbar was. I also noticed the different icons on this taskbar. After a few days, I have found the icons but I still don't know how they got their Taskbar and Start Button. I would really like to get that start button and possibly the taskbar too. Any help is appreciated.

You would need to edit the registry to do this or find a program that does it for you. Either way it's not really recommended... but that is my opinion on the matter.

Editing your registry is really flippin' dangerous when you don't know what you're doing.

That being said here's a site that specialises in messing with XP... most aren't really aesthetic as much as performance based, but you get the general idea... who knows, maybe something can help you.

I see three specific items in that screen shot. Two of which I know are possible without editing the registry.

1) Taskbar mod - Don't really know anything about that one, I always liked XP's taskbar... when I used XP that is.

2) Desktop icons - It's a custom theme, a google search on how to change desktop icons in XP will yield more specific results, but for your own custom picture I'm almost 99% sure the file extension/format will need to be *.ico

3) System monitor - It's a XP desktop widget. Yahoo has something similar.
