I want to try and get a small ticket making business going, but i need help on where i can start; which program can i use to start? Are there any free program to give me a start?

My System


Depending on the program that you use you can create a template to reduce your
work.
A template will enable you to not have to enter in different size values, fonts, etc each time you go to create a new version.

For instance during my time working in a print shop I had created a template of a
4 ticket setup
common areas divided with default fonts
stub area defined to ensure no type in the tear area.

The thing is that you want a page layout software.
Things like office can do it but it is much more difficult to do things like
rotate type
adjust certain sections of type.
and many other things after the type is already created.

TBH I havent done this for a while and dont know of any good free versions currently.
With the knowledge in the above articles and google I am sure that there are some very good free progs to do this.
