I run a SATA HDD and I think the hdd crashed. It said there are unrecoverable errors on it. It is not making any sounds, the only thing that seems to be wrong is the unrecoverable errors. My OS is XP Pro. Is there a way to fix it, and if not, how do I retrieve the info I have stored on it? It is VERY important information, everyting I held dear is on it! please help!
This depends if the errors are Physical or Logical. If the errors are logical then run scandisk to let windows repair the errors. If it is Physical than the actual disk is damage and you may not be able to recover anything from those sectors. The best thing to do is download the drive manufacturers disk utility from their website and run a diagnostic against the drive. You can also get a program, getdataback, to retrive data from a non-recoverable HD.
