I was recently fixing a drive with bad sectors, and was able to repair a few by identifying the LBA and through Victoria and replacing the spare.

This is just a test desktop with Lubuntu.. I still have 2 LBAs which throw the ABRT error, I tried erasing, repair and refresh, and nothing seemed to help these 2, any thoughts or other tools that can help ?

Also, is there a way that we can increase the spare sector pool, Glist by sort of manually adding more sectors to it ?

HDD Regenerator works well, but it hasn't been updates since 2011.
The reality is HDD's and SSD's have fallen in price, and are cheap to replace. There is no reason to try beating a dead horse to fix corrupted bad sectors. But have at it, and tell us how it goes.

Thanks spunky I've used hddreg/spinrite (trial) in the past, but not much success with bad sectors... I was able to repair about 4 of them, they were swapped from the spare, but 2 of them are damn adamant and there doesn't seem to be a way out...

Have you used them recently ?

lol... I know the HDD is beat but I just want to squeeze every last damn usable sector from it.. .. Also, this is a good learning in case I ever plan to fix some bad drives....

This is the only software I have found that can Fix Bad Sectors. But its' no longer worth the effort with prices as low as they are.
