Hi,

I bought a new hdd (WD10EZEX) that has pink silicon looking stuff on it. I've never bought a new hdd before (only old&used) so I was wondering if this is normal for new hdds or if I should send it back ?

Hi again. Sorry for the misunderstanding. I've checked things up again and Panther063 is absolutely right. The drive is OK and there's nothing to worry about.
Sorry for the misleading advice.

Indeed, if the pink stuff in question had frilly lace edging, ribbons, or rose flavoured frosting, you might have cause for concern.
