Thread Title : Can somebody please help fix driver issues

I have a laptop Dell Latitude 110L . I have installed and re-installed over and over and it says the drivers (code 31) are not working. I know there there!!
I have given up I don't know what else to do I have checked to make sure all xp pro files are intact. They are.
I have manually went to the registry to see if there was anything I could find wrong.
This all started when I downloaded files from dell to improve computer perfomance and I got an update that I didn't need which I believe pertained to the network card.
So I removed it manually from the windows registry.
I then found out I was a little cocky and removed more files than i should have.
So I did a scanboot and put all necessary files from xp in again.
But I can't seem to get this card to work.
If somebody can please help me it is my friends computer and I was just trying to remove his virus and improve his performance. Which I have done.
I'm at a loss at what to look for. Intel is so stupid.

I',m not sure what you meant by the chipst but i did down load it and updated drives but it was still the same. Now I,m uninstalling driver and rebooting and trying again.

I don't think it worked.

I'm pretty sure I downloaded what you asked me .

I'm rebooting computer again to see if it changes. I was looking I'm wondering if I'm having a problem with 2 different files e100a325 or e100b325?

No its the same. Unfortunately.

Im w2ondering if in properties details devices instance ld has the right value in there . Or Ithere ias still something wrong in the registry.

Right click on the error>Properties>Details Tab
Post the info you find under Device Instance ID

Do this for each error you have

Okay I downloaded those files and i'll burn them and transfer them to the dell. But i'm unsure how you want me to proceed when opening them.
I'm not as smart as you. This is something I haven't done before.

Actually Ithese were on the list of the updates that i put on his computer so I already have access to them there. should i open them again.

ok i did them again and the intel one says files were already there but i went yes to all but the dell one didn't and it is installing right now not sure why when i put them on there before but maybe it has something to do with the other updates i have on that disk.

If the drivers installed correctly you should have no errors in the Device Manager.
Do you have any remaining errors?

That didn't work. I even went to update the drivers and they say there is no better driver for your hardware. Still the yellow things are there. Also I was going to mention in network connections my page is blank. I s that just because i don't have thes drivers installed correctly. I know in mine it shows local and my card. But nothing here.

Sorry for the trouble and thanks for helping me but nothing is different.

The second one wasn't automatic or has a setup file and there is tons of applications to open but unsure of which to open? There is a driver file r 140747 . There is a dell inst application I could hit. There is also an icon looks like a black tower and says dell wireless wlan card dell. Also when i open the first one and followed your instructions. There was a setup icon and then just a file i went with the setup. after it was finished it asked me to restart but the icons were still the same. But i'm unsure which ones to pick in the latter. There is also zip files in it too.

I have to go out I hope you can help me later finish this. I think were getting closer. I can't believe how much trouble this is. You think it would be easy. I also wanted to tell you I did put a bios update on this computer too. Which was recommended at dell. I ,m thinking I want to hit the black icon tower which says setup dell wire less. But still am puzzled why the other network adaptor is corrupted. I'll be on here again tonight and later this evening if you are available.

For the Intel Pro VE.
Extract the driver to a folder
Inside this folder there are sub folders
Know where this folder is.

Go to the Device Manager
Right click on the error>Update
Select: No, not this time
Select: Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)
Select: Include this location in the search
Select: Browse and browse to the folder you extracted the driver too.
The file you need is in the WinXP subfolder E100B325.inf
XP should install the driver.

For the wireless run the setup.exe file
