Windows 7
Intel core i7-920 2.66ghz
3 gb ddr3
Ati radeon hd4850 512mb
1tb hd
Gateway fx 6800-01e

After a year of having this CPU I had to replace the harddrive. Now a year later it shuts off randomly. I took it to staples they were no help. I checked each memory stick all good. I also did a reformat and it was up for a couple of hours checked fans and temp all good. I turned it on and left it on CMOS and it shuts off after 5mins is this a sleeper mode if it's not touched? There is no visible damage to the motherboard. Don't know what else to do any help would be great

Re: Computer shuts off and on randomly

450 Watt is a little under powered for a computer with a Video card. We suggest at least 550 watt or higher and a name brand. (Corsair, Seasonic etc) To confirm this, boot into Setup (Bios) under PC Health or some such, and look for the 12+V line of the PSU. If it is above or below .5 it needs to be replaced.
