hi guys,
i see some people had similar problem as i do and there problem has been fixed, but mine's bit more complicated. i used some program to partition my hard drive (C while i was already using it and upon restart, partitioning started but during that process, i had some power interruption and now windows wont load. keeps saying autchk program not found. it cannot automatically fix the errors, i tried enough times and the installation disk isn't doing anything. at this point i dont care about my data anymore, i just wanna clean up my hard drive and reinstall windows 7 x64. please help!
Hi and Welcome to TSF
What is the make and model of the PC? if custom built then list all the specs
Have you tried hooking up the drive to another computer to see if you are able to see the data
Also if possible download Ubuntu and burn it on a cd/dvd and boot from it
you should be able to back up your data to another drive using the live ubuntu CD
hi, desktop motherboard: Intel DG43GT, core 2 duo processor and western digital hard drive, running windows 7 on x64 architecture, i tried getting the PTEDIT but looks like its for ancient devices coming with floppy disks. i don't have another computer to try the hard drive on to. but i have a laptop so i can probably be able to burn a ubuntu CD. i think i've already lost my data, be cause while i was using my computer, without backing up, i made a partition on my c: drive through partition wizard software. is there image file i can burn to fix this problem? thanks
Then run the diagnostics for your drive to see if the drive is going bad
if everything checks out good
then use Kill disk to wipe the drive and all partitions
and then install windows 7 and during that recreate partitions if you like
its weird, i used the western digital software and it didn't detect the hard drive, i used the ubuntu live CD and i was able to access all my files without any problem, backed up all my files. then i used killdisk but it says boot failure.. what else can i do now to format my hard drive in order to reinstall my OS?
thanks guys, used the ubuntu live CD, through which i partly installed ubuntu on the comp. I was able to work killDisk then and computer reformatted. thanks again.
