My HDD stopped working in my Windows 10 machine. I'm ordering a new one but have a couple questions.

I use Adobe Premiere Pro and as the computer is several years old the rendering time for videos is quite long (20-30 minutes for under a <10 minute video). Would an SSD be a better way to go?

The computer came with a previous version of Windows and I got a free update to Windows 10.
Regardless of which drive I buy, would there be any problem installing Win 10 from a USB flash drive?

Thank you.

No problem installing from a Windows 10 USB Flash drive.
An SSD will boot the computer faster, but for Rendering, In preview and cache, it should help. But in rendering, the cpu and Max RAM upgrade is the best.

Thank you for the helpful info.
I'm sorry about the delay in replying. My phone power button quit working after the battery went dead. Not my week I guess.

An Upgrade to the SSD would be the best, but make sure try to keep space on the SSD drive all the time and especially when you would be working on the Adobe or other heavy software. and save you most of the data on External HDD.

Upgrading to SSD would speed things up, the performance is really noticeable although not so sure when it comes to Adobe Premiere Pro. In most things save for price and lifespan, it has got the HDD beat (there is a comparison infographic here, just jump to the Final Verdict section). But it wouldn't hurt to keep an HDD handy for the rest of your data.

An SSD will improve performance, but not for Rendering. If you do a lot of Rendering, it is suggested that you use a second computer dedicated to Rendering or outsource the render to a Render Farm.
