is RAID 0 worth it if i keep back ups? i want to put 2 500gb drives in raid 0 but i have heard good and bad stories. help

My personal opinion is that it is worth it ONLY if you keep a current full backup or clones of your data. When one drive fails in Raid 0, then the game is over for that array and you lose the data.

Raid 0 is a method of storing data on multiple computer hard drives by interleaving the data and spreading it across the devices usually achieving faster read and write speeds.

The speed is worth the risk if you have the extra space (drive(s)) to store the data you want so you won't lose the data. I would give it a go if it were mine.
