I have a hard drive to work on, it is a master drive out of a nother computer. The only worry i have, is that if i set it as a slave on my computer and then set the jumpers all back and put it in the other computer... would it boot up?

Simply: 1 hard drive going from master to slave to master, will that be ok?

I hate to rain on your parade; but that method wont work ! The reason being; when windows installs and configures and OS its specific for the hardware environment present at the time of install. When you try to transfer the drive to another computer / the OS will fall flat on its face due to an excess amount of change detected in the hardware environment (especailly mobo chipsets)

If you are running win xp or win 2 k you could try running sysprep while the hard drive is in the first computer / then swap to the other / sysprep will accomodate the new hardware found by running the new install set-up procedure / then you will need to load drivers/ mobo chipset drivers/ windows updates and patches etc. ???????

I am curious; to save yourself all this blah / why not just load the OS from the computer the drive is going to reside with ????

here is a link for sysprep

I think you mis read my post... (i think)

I have the hard drive, not the computer ok? My computer (A) is gonna set the hard drive from "Bob's" computer (B) into my computer (A). It will NOT be master it will be slave, when its on my computer.

So.. the hard drive goes from master in HER computer, SLAVE in MINE, and MASTER in HERS.

Thank you for your time,

PS
save me time? well i have the drive kus im cleaning it of viruses, soon as u log in it reboots

Blitze >> sorry for the confusion

you are 100% correct I did misunderstand your intentions

yes the process you are about to undertake will work as long as you dont try to boot from the transplant while in the "other" environement

you will be able to copy or trade files with the other computer then return to your machine and boot as master

sorry for the confusion:
