Hello. This morning, I turned on my computer to be greeted with what seems to be a big problem with the secondary (F hard drive (the one with all my games on). Here's what happens every time I try and turn the PC on:
Firstly it boots up like normal, and gets as far as the Windows 7 logo, then sits there for a long time. Eventually it tells me it is going to run checkdisk.
In the checkdisk, it says the following (these might be in the wrong order):
Deleting Corrupt File Segment 0
File Record Segment 4/5/6/7 in Unreadable
4 Bad File Records Processed
Fixing Critical Master File Table (MFT) Files With Mirror
Recovering Orphaned Files Into Direcory File (quite a long list)
Correcting Errors in the Master File Table (MFT) Mirror (listed twice)
Lastly it says Correcting Errors in the Attribute Definition Table, and there it seem to hang. I have left it for about 20 minutes but it didn't move.
If I skip checkdisk, it will boot into Windows fine, but as soon as I try and do anything with the F: drive, it sits there trying to 'work' until what seems like a time out. Even trying to access F: in CMD to run a CHKDSK won't work.
Is there a way to fix this hard drive? Is it completely done for? Will I be able to recover the contents?
Please help, I am quitelost without my PC!
PS. Please excuse any spelling mistakes, I am not used to typing on a laptop!
