I was moving and resizing partitions with Acronis Disk Director 11 when it run into an error. The result was that now all my partitions are screwed and I can no longer boot. (I am now posting from my smartphone)

I used a Partition Magic 8 boot disc to check the HD. When PM started, it detected two partition errors and prompted me for an auto fix. Unfortunately, it did not correct the error, and all I can see in PM now is "Partition table error #105 found"

My computer is an Acer Aspire 5562 notebook, so my options are limited. While I don't mind formatting and reinstalling windows, there are important data on the HD. Since this seems like a partition table error, I am guessing that most data On the disk should still be intact, especially on the non-boot partition. (my HD had 3 partitons, for OS, apps and page file respectively). As such, I don't want to Risk writing over files that could be recoverable.

So, please, can someone please advise me on how to recover the maximum amount of data?

Thanks in advance

Create a bootable CD from here https://www.sysresccd.org/Main_Page

Boot off the CD and run Testdisk

You might want to first run hardware diagnostics on the drive.

Thanks for the reply.

I solved my the problem by manually editing the MBR. See details here.
