No boot device available

My computer froze up today and I was unable to restart properly, so I had to shut it down using the button. When I tried to start it back up, it refuses to boot and it gives me this message:

No boot device available
SATA 0: Installed
SATA 1: Installed
SATA 2: None
SATA 3: None

I have not recently adjusted any settings at all, even minor ones. I was streaming a tv show online when it froze. Don`t know if that had anything to do with it but anyway, I`ve searched for a solution and what I`ve found that I can actually understand, didn`t work - I rearranged the boot priority and disabled the floppy drive option, as well as unplugging all the cables and plugging them back in.

I`m using a Dell Inspiron 531 with Windows Vista.

Welcome to the forum. My Thoughts on your reported problem

1. Does the drive post "show up correct capacity" in bios ?
2.What is the make model of the drive ?

It sounds like the drive may have failed or hdd controller on mobo died.

3. Run diagnostics from manufacturer on it download burn to CD boot computer. Get the DOS version of any of the diag's they are more reliable.
4. Remove drive and see if it can be read as a secondary drive in another system like a friends or local computer shop
