My hp dv9620us hard drive crapped out on me. So I went and bought a replacement for it. Same exact one that had been in there, just new. It came in today, I swapped them and went to load Windows 7 and it tells me, "No drives were found."
I have no idea whats wrong. I'm not the most computer tech type but I thought I could handle this. Now, my old hard drive is completely done, when I used to turn it on it would just say replace hard drive then turn off. I do not want or need anything from the old one, it did run Vista if that makes a difference.
I just want my new one to work and be able to load Windows 7. PLEASE HELP!!
Can you get into BIOS and see if the system is detecting the HDD?
Usually when the Hp logo shows up when you start the computer Press F2 or Delete will get you into BIOS
I am able to get to BIOS and its sayds nothing about the hard drive. I went to Primary Hard Disk Self Test and it says "Diagnostics not supported. No IDE Device."
Did I put it in wrong? As I take a look, it seems that the new HD is just sitting in the spot. I swapped the bracket and placed in there just how it looked. But none of the gold connecting things are touching anything.
Just an update. I had installed the HD improperly by not putting the little connecting piece on the new HD so that it actually plugged into the computer. Once I did that everthing went smoothly.
Well Congrats install the OS and let us know how it went and mark the thread closed
