EEK!

how do you restore from multiple CDs ?

I need to restore 7 CD-ROMs. The first is a .gho, and the rest are .ghs . I made a boot disk, and it loads up, but I don't know where to go from there.

I tried putting in the .gho CD, but instead of one .gho file showing up, there are at least 50, and they all give an error when I try to restore from one of them. I chose local->partition->from image.

Try Local, Disk, From Image!

I've tried that. The errors I get are "Disk was not created by Norton Ghost", and "Error Accessing file, please check media and retry (566)".

Did you make this set of restore disks yourself?

I'll bet it will work fine on the computer you made it on. But know your trying to restore it to a completely different system and that may be the reason for the issues your having...........:D

hmm. So how do you think I would be able to backup a hard drive onto CDs, and then restore them onto another computer ?

I'm aware of this error

https://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT...=&prev=&dtype=

but it doesn't help when I check it and then go back to restore. Does this mean that I have to burn the backup CDs again with that option checked off ?

A shot in the dark here, have you tried booting up in DOS and copying all of the CD's to a common directory on a different partition on the hard disk? Then run GHOST and point to the image files on the hard disk. I'm thinking someone did the backup to a hard disk, then burned the files to CD's with a CD burning application. GHOST won't directly read them in that case...

You're right, I didn't back up onto the CDs correctly. That was my problem and it works now.

Thanks everyone for your help, I appreciate it.
